Our Process
More detailed information about our free review and compare service.
Industry Specific Report
Before we start discussing your insurance in any kind of detail we will research your industry, focusing on the specific risks and exposures that businesses like yours are likely to encounter.
You will be provided with a report which covers these industry specific risks and exposures, and classifies each class of insurance into a low/medium/high risk category, based on data gathered over the years on the claims that have been made by businesses in your industry.
We can produce these reports for more than 7,000 activities and occupations, and that number is always growing!
Finding Out About Your Business
It’s all well and good us researching your industry, however we now need to assess your business, and determine your specific business risks and exposures. As part of this process we will collect information on your business using our Ivy Insurance Fact Find.
Visiting your business location(s)
Ideally we like to visit your business, sometimes we might spot something which may not get mentioned if we only do a review over the phone.
If you are not local then we are happy to send you the fact find by email, which you can complete and return, and then we can go through it section by section over the phone to check if anything has been missed.
Review of your current Cover
If you already have a business insurance policy in place then we will review your current cover and let you know of any obvious gaps or aspects which may adversely affect your business if you needed to make a claim under your current policy.
Prepare & Present Quotes
At this stage we can now review which insurance companies offer the kind of policy you require, and prepare some quotes that provide the level of cover requested.
We typically aim to provide you with 3 or more quotes for you to choose between, however we will also recommend the quote we think best suits your objectives, the risks and exposures facing your business, and your budget.
Policy Wording/ Product Disclosure Statements
For each quote we send you we will also send you the corresponding policy wording/ Product
Disclosure
Statement,
this will be a detailed document provided by the insurance company that tells you what you
are and are not
covered
for under the policy.
It highlights things such as insured events, claim limits, exclusions, discounts, benefits
and
information on how their claims process works.
Select Which Policy You Would Like
Once you have reviewed the Quotes, and Policy Wording/ Product Disclosure Statements then you can advise us on which quote(s) you would like to proceed with.
Provide Policy Documents & Statement of Advice
Once you have provided your Authority To Proceed with your chosen insurance policy, we will send you your policy documents along with a statement of advice.
A Statement of Advice (SOA) will include:
- A summary of your objectives/needs
- Any key information you have told us in relation to your business
- An analysis of each insurance class in relation to your business, including:
- explanations of which risks are covered by that class of insurance
- the sums insured that you have advised us you require
- Our advice
- Details of anything which has or might influence our advice
